Stud wall - quick question

by Ciderman » Tue Nov 14, 2023 9:53 am

Hi Folks,
I need to build a stud wall against an existing uneven wall, with enough clearance to add the eggbox type membrane and some insulation.
My problem is that to maximise the space between the stud wall and the existing stone wall, id like to place the studs width ways - so in stead of the 3x2 battens with the 2" facing outwards, id like to place the 3" face outwards.
Is this likely to cause issues with bowing or strength?
The vertical studs will be 400mm apart and fixed to the wall using stainless brackets at regular intervals.

Any advice is welcomed!

Hi ciderman
Your proposal will be fine especially with the angle brackets, suggest you add noggins for additional rigidity.
