Just bought a stone built terraced house built around 1900. We have a certificate to say that it had a damp proof course in 2006. We stripped all the wallpaper off the walls and had them replastered. As the walls have been plastered we can't see where the damp proof has been done.
We are having problems with the exterior wall in the lounge up to about 2 foot off the floor. We took the skirting board off before having it plastered. The plaster was taking longer than the rest of the walls to dry and there appeared to be some areas going white and fluffy. We tried to paint the wall but the paint is just coming off.
The lounge is at the front of the house which backs straight onto the pavement. The wall is about a foot thick and there is a coal shoot underneath it.
Just wondered how we can find out what is causing it and how it can be fixed?
