Exterior tile cladding Questions answered and a range of solutions on problems and issues encountered with timber framed buildings

My house has roof tile cladding on the exterior walls of the upper floor. Some of these have fallen off and I am unsure how to fix them back on again without dislodging any more.

USUALLY, THE TILES HAVE A COUPLE OF LIPS/HOOKS THAT ARE HUNG OVER BATTENS AND THEN THE TILES MAY BE NAILED THROUGH INTO BATTENS TO SECURE.

IF YOU INTEND TO RE-HANG THE ORIGINAL TILES, THEN ENSURE THAT THEY AREN'T DAMAGED (PARTICULARLY THE LIPS).

IT MAY BE POSSIBLE TO HOOK THE TILE IN POSITION UNDER THE OVERHANGING ONES WITHOUT THE NEED TO NAIL THEM AND RELY ON THE WEIGHT AND SECURITY OF THESE TO HOLD THE REPLACED ONES IN POSITION ADIQUATELY.

IF THIS PROVES TO BE INADIQUATE, THEN THE TILES WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER THAT ALL TILES CAN BE NAILED THROUGH INTO BATTENS.

IT MAY BE, THAT THE TIMBER BATTENS ARE DETERIORATING/ROTTING, ALLOWING THE TILES TO COME ADRIFT AND THIS WOULD ALSO REQUIRE THE REMOVAL OF THE TILES TO INSPECT AND REPLACE THE BATTENS AND RE-FIT TILES.
