First of all I realise there have been similar posts to this one before but not exactly the same, however any advice on the following niggling problem would be most appreciated:
Basically whenever we come back from a few days away one of the overflow pipes in the roof drips water into the garden, as soon as we turn on a hot tap within an hour or 45 mins it has stopped dripping. (This also occured a couple of weeks ago during a period when we didn't have the hot water on for 2-3 days). Now I have located the water storage tank in the loft to which the overflow pipe is connected (its the middle tank, not the small one on the right nor the slightly larger one on the left) there seems to be a continuous albeit very small drip into this tank coming from the ball valve itself (I guess its connected to a pipe which leads to the tank in the airing cupboard downstairs), when I lift the arm with the float the dripping stops, I then let the arm drop back (about less than a cm) and it starts again.
Have I got a faulty ball valve and float?
What is this continuous dripping into the tank?
Any help most appreciated!!!
