leaking shower mixer

by scroogemonster » Tue Aug 19, 2008 10:51 am

i have installed a shower mixer on my bath. It leaks where the mixer is bolted to the underside of the bath on the HOT water side (from under the washer and nut securing it to the underside of the bath .)

Is this just because water is getitng past the mixer on the top of the bath?

Is there anyway a mixer could have an internal leak causing it to weep past the washer? or are the spindles welded onto the body of the mixer
Thanks
Kevin

The threaded "spindle" and the tap body is usually one piece and therefore unless the casting of the tap is faulty, (and I have seen this) then the leak can only come from as you suggest.

My guess is that you have not centralised the tap in the bath tap cutouts and water is seeping between the rubber seal and the bath.
