I have a gas fired back boiler unit behind a flame effect gas fire, situated in the lounge of my 1970's home. At the last boiler service, the engineer said that the system would not be covered in future years, as the air brick installation in the lounge wall did not conform to the current regulations.
Apparently I need to install a cavity wall liner.

Can anyone offer any info or advice?

Are these off the shelf items, available from builders merchants or DIY stores? Are they difficult to fit? Do they have to conform to any regulations.

I have a lot of questions regarding these, so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

You need an air brick/vent to the outside world of 100cm2.
Stadium do such a vent -> 5" hole, tube, 2x vent covers - job done.

You can buy plastic air bricks (sometimes referred to as black holes) with the plastic sleeve between the inner and outer vent.

if you get a vent like already suggested you'll be fine but if you go for another one not sleeved make sure it can't be closed and it mustn't have a flyscreen either.
