pull cord switch

by mungo » Tue Nov 18, 2008 4:09 pm

:( Hi all, I have put an isolator switch on the shower circuit in the bathroom.
the supply from the consumer unit connects to one terminal and the cable from the shower connects to the other terminal. do they have to be specifically connected in the pull cord switch or will it work either way round inside the switch as long as it's pos' to pos's and neg' to neg' and earth to earth.
:?:

It will work either way around but many have spark arrestors which will only be effective if load and supply is observed if load and supply is marked you should observe these and connect that way around if no makings then it will not matter.

If wrong way round Neon will stay on all the time, not a real problem if you don't want to know if shower supply is On or OFF!
However since switch is only there for isolation for shower maintenance it is quite important to get it the right way round.
N.B.These switches are not intended for day to day 'functional' switching as some people use them, and should be left ON normally.
