Our back boiler keeps tripping out - i.e the overheat stat kicks in and we have to relight the pilot.

We have had it serviced, checked etc and the only advice we have had is that we need a new boiler - but it will cost us at least £2.8k and I still dont know what the root cause problem is

We did convert to a pressurised system with a megaflow and had the overheat stat fitted and it started tripping out then (or maybe was much worse then).

The pressure is not dropping and the last advice we had was that all parts of the boiler were OK.

Might our problem be that the back boiler is downstairs and we have now put the pump in the loft and would this cause cavitation leading to hot air bubbles circulating and tripping out the boiler ?

Any advice really because I dont want to spend nearly £3k

What's the make and model of boiler.

There's not many back boilers with opverheat stats. If the pilot keeps going oput it's more likely to be the thermocouple at fault or the pilot may need cleaning.

It is a baxi bermuda inset for which we had to have an overheat stat fitted when we went to the pressurised system for our new megaflo hot water tank. (which incidentally we squeezed into the loft to free up some bedroom space) The pump is also now in the loft.

I have bought a new stat as specified by baxi as an experiment to see if it is that which is at fault. ( I will find a corgi engineer to fit it).

Also having now read various reasons why the overheat stat will kick in I am wondering if the problem is the pump, as we are asking it to pull water up approx 5m. I suspect it is struggling, the water is moving slowly and then is 'overheating'?
