Tiling plasterboard - need to tape joints?

by bemused » Wed Jan 21, 2009 4:43 pm

I'm intending to tile straight onto standard plasterboard and am wondering if I need to tape the joints first. I'll be grateful for any advice. Thanks.

no need to tape joints, but depending on the location, I assume bathroom or kitchen. What I would suggest is fixing some hardboard on to walls pre-tiles. Because if you ever decide to or the next resident may, remove tiles at some point. It will ruining your plasterboard when this tiles are removed, so by putting hardboard as a sub surface the wall is protected.
