increase the air on the burner to obtain the correct combustion reading

but increasing the air seems to blow the flame out

Hi,

Your getting flame lift - too much air.
Are you qualified?
If not, get an Hetas person in?

heating09,
The equipment you are using to test the combustion gases is giving the wrong reading.

heating09,
Have you checked the pressure to the nozzle, is it set as in the operating manual? Have a look in the manual and see what nozzle is recommended. If you are using a hollow pattern nozzle, try a solid one and vv.
When you now refer to "tripping out" do you mean this or that the flame becomes unstable and blows out.

nozzle pressure ok

flame begins to blow out every 5 mins or so when correct co2 is reached

flame only stabilises when burning rich i.e 13% co2

this isnt any good cause the co then goes to 300ppm

heating09,
Have you tried a new nozzle? Is the correct size nozzle fitted ie one which matches the boiler. Check the manual and see if the burner has been replaced with one which is too big for the boiler. Have you checked the relationship between the nozzle and the air spinner plate does this match the spec in the manual?
