Blistering on new ceiling.

by PaulFarrugia » Tue Mar 10, 2009 12:44 pm

Hi there.

I had a new ceiling put up about a month ago and after a week started to paint emulsion on to it. The first coat went up fine, but the 2nd coat has started to blister. The guy who put the celing up said i could just paint on it but now i realize i may have needed to put sealer or primer on the plasterboard before. I guess my questions are how do i stop the blistering and can i put sealer on top of paint or do i have to take all the paint off?

Thanks in advance!

Paul

PaulFarrugia,
Suspect you did not water down your first coat, if this was the case you will need to scrape off the first coat - it should come off easily - use a filler knife.
end.

Basics first.

Are you painting plasterboard or skimmed plasterboard?

Cheers
