USA light fitting work in UK

by kamzee » Thu Mar 19, 2009 8:15 pm

I would really love to bring a chandelior from the US but i am unsure whether it will work given the different voltage. I have asked in the US and was told i would need a transformer and getting 240 bulbs might be difficult, has anyone any experience with this sort of thing?

Hi, no transformer needed if you use 230V lamps(bulbs), most US lamps are Edison Screw (ES) so just need to know if ES, SES, or whatever.
Fitting should be UL approved which is not approved for use in EU zone but is equivalent to CE standard so its up to you to convince customs it's legal to import to UK.
