Ceiling lights occasionally not working!!

by Mel » Tue May 22, 2007 7:26 pm

Hello, I am looking for some advice regarding my upstairs lighting!! We have spotlights in both bedrooms, and normal light in passage. At the beginning of April we had our loft boarded out, for the first time last week our lights weren't working, the trip switch had tripped on the fuse box, this happened again last night. Can this be connected to the loft getting boarded out, although the problem didn't occur straight after loft work was done?, if so, how can we possibly locate the problem with spotlights!?
The problem was solved once trip switch had been flicked but obviously eager to sort it!!!
Appreciate any help!!
Thank you.

Hi Mel ,
Very possible wire go 'trapped' under boarding but took a while to squash and short out!
Other possibility is lights now over heated due to trapped air, recessed lights MUST have large volume of air around to prevent 'melt down'
before lifting boards see if lights will withdraw from ceiling & check wiring for heat damage, regards SPARX
