I bought a Victorian house recently and there was no damp in the house at the time. I then had building work done, building a one storey extension at the back next to the existing bathroom, and refurbished the existing bathroom including damp proofing the floor.

Now the work is done, damp patches have apeared at ground floor level, around all walls of the bedroom next to the damp proofed bathroom, even in the walls not next to the bathroom. Any ideas of possible causes?

Difficult to say from your description but have air bricks be covered by the extension and was the original floor suspended?

Yes the floor was suspended and it still is. There were no air bricks that I remember.

You must install air bricks to ventilate under the suspended floor. Do this and leave things for a few months to see if the dampness reduces.

On no he/she musn't. What they must do is get their builder back and tell HIM to sort it as HIS expense.
