Economy 7 Consumer Unit (Additonal Storage heater)

by d4rr3n » Mon May 11, 2009 8:33 am

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help on this. Basically I've got a house which currently has 4 storage heaters installed throughout, I want to add an additonal one in the lounge but when looking at the seperate eco 7 consumer unit there are only 4 fuse slots which are all used up. My question is, would it be possible to have two storage heaters connected to one circuit/fuse (2 x 3.4kw heaters), or would I have to fit a larger consumer unit, if so wuld i have to get the Leccy board to fit this?

Any advice much appreciated, thanks

what rating are the fuses, do you know what size the cable is coming in, does it look the same size as the one on your sockets for example or is it smaller/larger.
the answer however will almost certainly no you can't just add heaters onto the same circuit.

Each heater should be on a separate fuse and any electrician can do this (as long as they hold the relevent qualification of course)
