Staining pine to match

by Nick42 » Tue Jun 09, 2009 11:31 pm

Hi
I have bouht some bedroom furniture in antique pine lacquered finish.
I haave also built a couple of bespoke pieces using fresh pine board.

I am trying to find a lacquer to use to match the stuff Ihave bought.

A web search for antique pine lacquer just brought up lots of furniture suppliers. A hunt in my local B & Q and Homebase didn't really seem to have the right stuff.

Anyone got any experience of a product that will do the job?
Cheers
Nick

Nick42,
If you match the two finishes now, in a years time the new wood will be much darker. Use a clear polyeurethane varnish to start and tone it down to suit over a period of time.
end
