HAS BUILDER RUINED OUR PATIO

by ROBERTSROAD » Wed Aug 26, 2009 7:54 pm

this summer we have had a beautiful sandstone patio laid,,,however we have also had an outside redec going on,
whilst waterproofing the exterior of the house with some special sealant a substantial amount was splashed over 10 to 15 patio slabs resulting in an unsightly marking to the tiles.
i tackled the builder about this and he said not to worry he would sort it.
he has had one of his workers scrubbing the slabs and joints with brick acid for a couple of days now and although the splash marks are slowly fading the slabs are turning slightly orange and mortar joints appear to be crumbling,,,,,,,,

advice please,,,and thankyou in advance

ROBERTSROAD,
The brick acid will eat away at the mortar joints and will surface etch the sandstone. Suggest you get the builder to sort it properly by replacing the damaged slabs.
end
