Extending chimney wall into the room

by TinaS » Mon Oct 12, 2009 9:04 am

Hello -

we have an old fireplace in the bedroom and like to add a built-in wardrobe right next to it. Since the chimney walls are just about 300mm deep, we'd like to extend the walls further into the room (covering up the fireplace), so that it ends at the same height as the wardrobe.

Any advice on how to do this?

A useful depth for a wardrobe is somewhere between 45 and 60 cms.
Just extend the wardrobe across the fireplace as a false wall.
