I have afriend who is having a problem with his oil burner.He was told he needed a new control box to fix the problem by his service man. He got the control box installed but the problem is occuring.He has a reillo burner and the problem is that when the heating is turned on it goes to lock out ,but it does not do this everytime.it can happen 1 in every 10 times heating is switched on. would a new nozzel be a help.

It really depends on what is causing the lockout. A faulty nozzle is only one possibility, and really ought to collect some symptoms to identify the problem otherwise you will have to replace the whole boiler part by part until you stumble on the cause.

Someone needs to be around the boiler when the fault occurs, to look and listen at what is going on.

Does the boiler fail to light then lockout? Does it just lock out when burning normally? Does it try to re-ignite fail?

THANK YOU PLUMBOB,
AFTER BURNER GOES TO LOCK OUT AND RED BUTTON IS PRESSED IN AGAIN IT STARTS UP AGAIN AND MAY GO FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE LOCKING OUT AGAIN.COULD THE SOLENOID VALVE BE FAULTY?
