Buzzing consumer unit

by Lawrence » Sun Oct 18, 2009 10:48 am

I have recently fitted some dimmable low energy bulbs and changed the dimmer switch (link below) which I was advised was designed to be used with low energy dimmable bulbs

However, when I now have the lights on (dimmed or on full power) I get a buzzing on the breaker at the consumer unit.

Does anyone know why I get this buzzing and how I can stop it

thanks

How many bulbs are operated by the switch and what wattage are they?

It's normal for the dimmer switch to be buzzing but not the on the MCB.

I wouldn't use a dimmer on low energy lighting. Fit a normal switch and see if the buzzing stops.
