Hi,

I have a rather old (approx 25yrs) Thorn EMI gas boiler that just does my central heating.

I do intend to swap it for a new one next summer (obviously fitted by a CORGI contractor).

However its currently making very loud clanking and banging noises when it shuts off.

Why does it do it??????

Hi my system is the same, Does your system clang n bang more when its been running at high temp then when switched off?
I have looked up this problem before for myself and was led to believe it was gunk and rubbish floating about in the system and to flush the system out.
I have not done it yet myself so i cant tell you if its the remedy.. Sorry!
But its a start for you to look at... Good Luck! :wink:
