Hi Guys,
I was wondering whether you could help/advise me with regards to the 'finish' of my decking. I'm planning on removing a Cuprinol decking stain (dark oak) which I originally used.
It looks fine when first on but over time (particularly during the winter months) it has flaked and peeled terribly and so looks a right mess generally. I don't want to have to re-do the finish every year and so I was thinking about using a decking oil which will hopefully just bring out the natural colour of the decking and will not need to be re-done every year.
Are my assumptions about the decking oil correct? Also, any advice you can provide me on the best way to remove the decking stain will be gratefully received. I appreciate it will be a long and difficult job but I was thinking about using a hand-held sanding machine to remove the decking stain. Any other tips to help such as grade of sand paper to use, use of a pressure washer as well/instead of etc?
Thanks,
Marc.
