Laying wooding flooing along/parallel to floor joists Help, advice, information, answers and tips on all types of flooring from laminate and carpet to timber and vinyl

Would like to lay wood flooring along / parallel to joists as plan to install underfloor heating and want to avoid insulation effect by having additional layer of wood (floorboards or ply). Also joists run lengthwise and laying flooring widthwise will make room look shorter. Can anybody advise best way to do this please.
