I have a 1981 mobile home that I have been trying to replace light fixtures. Currently I have just run across a snag in my bathroom. Above the vanity was a strip of lights that were getting so hot they were scorching the ceiling above it. I removed the fixture only to find there's no junction box...just the wire coming out of a hole in the paneling. It looks and feels like it was drilled through a 2x4 so cutting a hole for a junction box is going to be a trick. My question is, is there any way around this? I've thought about mounting the junction box on the outside of the wall instead of trying to cut a hole for it as the space is limited by window, celing and medicine cabinet. Any ideas?
Thanks
