Hi all. I am replacing my existing bath/shower, which is poorly sealed and leaks through the ceiling to my kitchen. I am replacing it with a mixer shower in a sealed enclosure.
My problem is that a number of electricity cables run directly under the bath in the void between bathroom floor and kitchen ceiling.
I have "tanked" the room (ie sealed the floor with a durabase CI membrane) in order to stop any water leaking out from the shower but I have run the water pipes behind a stud wall which is indirectly above the electric cables which run in the void - (they run through holes drilled in the joists so can not be moved) Also, the waste from the shower would ideally also run in the void where the cables are in order to allow the shower enclosure to sit snug to the floor.
I was considering wiring in a shaver socket when I ran into Part P and realised it wasn't possible - my question is whilst my existing work is not directly electrical have I inadvertently run foul of part P?
If so, what is my next course of action given that I am part way through the job?
Like I said I have fitted the shower, built and sealed a stud wall and tanked the bathroom floor (Plywood screwed to the floorboards, tile adhesive, then durabase CI membrane) - my next step would be to tile the floor and stud wall - obviously I'm loathe to do this if it's in breach of part P, but we've also been without a shower or bath for a week already and need a speedy as well as safe solution!
