STRIPPING PAINT OFF DOORS BY COMMERCIAL DIPPING

by jemball » Thu Sep 09, 2010 11:18 am

We have several pine doors in our 1930's house which need stripping before repainting. We could have them stripped by either acid or caustic soda bath, but have heard that this can leave loose joints.

Can anybody advise if this type of stripping can cause problems for our type of doors?

jemball,
Soaking your doors in a water based solution will not do them any good at all, complete stripping will expose any past major repairs which you may not be able to see before they are stripped.

Why do they need stripped?

Just use nitro moers if they need stripped, wont damage the wood but be careful wear propper gloves goggles and a metal tin as it realy does melt plastic.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll just use a heat gun first and then Nitromors to finish.
