I am renovating a house and as part of the reworking of the hot water system I need to tee into a 28mm pipe. I am pretty handy at plumbing (for a DIYer) and have done plenty of soldering however I feel this is going to be tricky. I have about a 10" window and being 28mm I doubt there will be much flex if any - does anybody know if there is a trick to this or even a special fitting that will allow me to cut out a section and then put the tee in?

What is this 28mm pipe ? would normally only be gas, or primaries from a boiler - gas a diyer can't do it, primaries there's no need to tee into it ???

Hot, cold and heating pipework would normally all be 22mm, 15mm or smaller.

Use a slip socket so you can butt up the two ends of the pipework without needing any play in the pipework - ie fit the tee where you need to but do another cut in the pipework further along so you will be doing two areas of soldering

as Knowabit says use a slipsocket or use a rat tail file to burr out the centre of a 28mm straight coupling so you can slide it back and forth on the pipe to solder it
