preparing torn wallpaper for painting

by ryancaird » Fri Jun 15, 2007 1:01 pm

I have just had extensive work done to my house - in the process the lining paper on the walls has tears in it and bits missing. how do i remedy this quickly to ensure these defects dont show through the paint finish.

I also had the fireplace removed and the lining paper only ran as far as the mantle now i have a horizontal line running across my wall between lining paper and the plaster - what is the best solution to remedy this line before painting?

You can paste in "bits" of lining paper as close as possible to teh shape and fill the joint with fine surface filler. See the link below for the filler. If done carefully its possible to get an invisible mend. Apply the filler to the gaps leave to dry and sand over very gently.
