How long before I can mist coat?

by scroogemonster » Wed Apr 27, 2011 8:13 pm

Hi all, I have had a lounge room taken back to the brick and replastered. Two coats of sand and cement on walls followd by skim coat. All walls appear dry (light pink colour) and the ceiling (was boarded over and skimmed) has been mist coated already.
How long should I leave it before mist coating the walls. It has been 4 weeks exactly since plastering has ended.
Thanks
Kevin

Hi, it should be fine to mist coat if it is a light pink colour as this will mean that it has dried out.

four weeks is plenty of time.

the textbook will tell you to wait 4-6 weeks but in reality most people will mist coat as soon as the plaster has dried out, when it turns from the dark brown to light pink colour.
