hi i am building a 12ftx8ftx8ft high single skin workshop out of lightweight aerated blocks how deep do the footings need to be.

first you will need planning consent.
contact the building control officer at your local council he will advise you.
The depth of the foundation depends on the ground condition.
I wouldnt use thermalite blocks use hollow concrete blocks its stronger.
