Replacement cast iron bath?

by Edpaterson » Sun Jul 03, 2011 9:40 am

I am renovating a bathroom in my daughter's flat. I intend fitting an over bath shower but am uncertain about whether it would be better to
1. Replace the cast iron bath with an acrylic one with appropriate taps
2. Renovate the cast iron bath and fit appropriate taps.

The reason for my indecision is that I am not sure how robust acrylic baths are under constant use as a shower base.

Any thoughts?

Edpaterson,
If you are considering one of the roll top cast iron baths these have a very curved bottom section - not good for showering. Go for an acrylic one with antislip mouldings in the bottom.
