Concrete floor then wood base of previous wall then concrete

by landed » Sun Jul 17, 2011 1:05 pm

I have had this solution as to the problem here (I need to build laminate floating floor across two concrete floors separated by a wood base where the old wall existed)

https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/forums/view ... hp?t=26447 [can floor compound handle different expansion rates]

Is it better to remove the wood and then concrete in - could this wood be structurally important. The wall was a stud wall - we cant seem to see why it wasn't over a whole concrete base but there we are.

Could we just have the whole lot levelled without any product on top, so the wood machined down or built up to meet the concrete, expansion will still happen but I am hoping this wont be serious enough to mean the flooring cant handle it.

There is a gap between the wood and each concrete floor each side but obviously the vertical expansion is the issue - will it crack any floor compound or would it distort the tongue and groove above it enough to fail. :?:
