Precast Pavers Thinset over Concrete

by VegasMom » Fri Jun 22, 2007 7:56 pm

Hi all,

I live in LV, NV and we are going to be laying 1" thick 36" square precast concrete pavers over an existing (fairly new, no cracks) concrete patio. The company installing said they will put down 1/4" of thinset and fill 1/4" joints with mortar. They said sand/cement wouldn't work because the pavers will break apart during compacting.

I want to make sure this is the best way to do this project. I'm also concerned about efflorescense but they assured me it won't be a problem..to wait 45 days after the install, power wash and then seal.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Karin

Is everyone on holiday? I'm going to DIY. Does that make a difference?
