We've just stripped the wallpaper in our new house and it came off perfectly, but it left behind a thin skin. It peels off, much like sunburn on your skin. This is ALL over the walls. We washed it down with many products, we steamed it and we scraped it. We thought it was ready, so we painted.

After the first coat it began to bubble and the paint peeled off the walls.

What can we do??? Please help!

you need to scrub the walls with a good quality scourer and plenty of hot water it is the paste and size thats left on the plaster thats doing the damage when you paint over it the water in the paint makes it react the best cure is to use 1000 grade lining paper and paint that it will also stop any surface defects re appearing

Yes indeed its the paste from the size! But paste is water based so the simple solution would be to thin some cheap undercoat down alot and cut in and roll with undercoat, then emulsion over with some vinly flat matt!!
