Double Layer of plasterboard??????????

by stuhop » Mon Jul 16, 2007 11:13 am

i am converting my garage into a utility room and downstairs toilet.

I have recently taken down the exsisting plasterboard ceiling as it need replacing and i have noticed that the ceiling had a double layer of plasterboard running in opposite directions.

Anyone know why this is the case, and would it need replacing in a similar fashion as it will cause me major headache with fitting downligts
