Shower Waste Outlet

by alan8376 » Tue Jul 17, 2007 8:28 am

I wish to take out my bath and fit a shower. My current bath waste outlet is at the window end of the room, but the shower tray will be 6' from the outside wall.
I wish to fit a waste pipe in the concrete floor as I do not want a raised platform hiding the pipes! What do you advise?

Thanks

hi alan if you cut up the floor you cannot go deeper than the top screed which may only be 1.5 to2 inches deep because you may break the damp proofing your waste pipe is approx 1.75 outer diam leaving no room for fall check floor you may be able to go deeper if a membrane or black bitumen is not found. aim for a two inch fall over length all the best john

hi alan
Why don't you take the waste pipe in the wall instead of digging up the floor? then tile or replaster the bottom 6 inches of the wall.

hi alan
Have you thought of channelling out the wall and taking the drain around the bottom of the wall? Make good with carlite bonding if you are going to tile or plaster it if you aare going to paint?
good luck ammo
