[quote="rgolledge"]Hi
In my kitchen there are 2 switches for the lights. I need to remove one of them.
However there are so may wires I don't know were to start.
The switch I need to remove has 6 wires in total
1 x Black in L1
1x Brown and 1 x Grey with Brown over sleeve in L3
1 x Brown with Brown over sleeve and 2 x Brown (no over sleeve) in L2
Can any one let me know which wires I need to connect in order that the remaining swtich will control them.
So far I have managed either to have them permanently off or permanently on.
Many Thanks

FIRST OF ALL WITH 6 WIRES AS U SAY THIS ONE OF TWO
SWITCHES .U WANT TO DO AWAY WITH.
THE OTHER SWITCH THEN IS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE
KITCHEN YES ?
IN THIS OTHER SWITCH U R KEEPING I THINK SHOULD
BE A 3 CORE AND EARTH. ( BROWN,GREY , BLACK )
IF THIS IS THE CASE U HAVE A TWO WAY LIGHTING
SYSTEM.
AT YOUR SIX WIRE END YOU SHOULD HAVE A TWIN BROWN
AND EARTH . IF U HAVE THEN THIS IS YOUR FEED AND
SWITCH WIRE WHICH NEEDS TO BE RETAINED TO
PROVIDE YOUR OPERATION OF THE LIGHT, IF AS U SAY
U ARE DOING AWAY WITH THIS SWITCH YOU NEED TO
MOVE THIS TWIN BROWN TO THE POSITION WHERE U
INTEND TO SWITCH LIGHTS. IF AS I ASSUME IT IS THE
OTHER TWO WAY SWITCH WITH A 3 CORE IN IT THEN
THIS IS WHERE U RE SITUATE TWIN BROWN.
I NOTICE U MENTION 6 WIRES, I COULD UNDERSTAND
5 BEING 3 CORE AND 2 CORE. IS THE 6 TH WIRE A
SINGLE CORE CABLE. ?
IN ANY CASE THIS IS NOTIFIABLE WORK IF YOU HAVE TO ALTER WIRING. MOREI INFO REQUIRED,
DOC WIRING DIAGRAMS ON PROJECTS WILL GIVE U AN IDEA IN PICTURES ON SWITCHING.
