Kitchen and bathroom lights

Can anyone help me please,
I recently tried to fit new light fitting to kitchen it is connected on a loopwith the bathroom light.I have 3 red wires and 3 black and an earth. I have tried various combinations but the best i have managed so far is when kitchen light is off bathroom is on .

You need to find out which black is actually the switchline form the pullcord (or switch). With power off buzz out between black and red on each cable with the switch operated. When continity is made this black will be the switchline, ie comes live when the switch is operated.

Connections are therefore; 3 reds in the centre loop connection, 2 blacks in the neutral bar, and switchline to the third block. Lamp goes from the switchline to the neutral.

When you have been connecting up before you probably had both lights in parallel, therefore none would work satisfactorily
