by phippsy333 » Sun Mar 18, 2007 11:58 am

When u say diydoc that a bag of mulri goes 13 metres sq .....think youll find it will go 9 metres square, 2mm first smooth down then 2nd coat 1mm, smotth daown then wet trowel then dry trowel. From anther forum question about artex ceiling.1st scrapedown artex best u can either paint bond-it leveave for 24 hrs then plaster or pva x2 leet dry between and then pllaster as usual!Ive never got 13msq from a bag tho....not if your doin it properly

We actually think you are right but the manufacturers state 13 square meters at 3mm thick and when you work out the meterage to weight ratio it does actually work out to 12.7 square meters coverage. We all know that its not possible to lay it on at exactly the correct thickness and what we have found is that DIY enthusiasts tend to put it on too thinly by floating the trowel against the board or wall as opposed to 2mm off it. This allows them to get about 40 square meters out of a bag !!! This is why we said what the manufacturers say so they will realise that if you get any more than 13, its not on right. Thanks for putting this right though, its nice to know someone reads the projects !!
