shower hose not sealing

by stronach » Tue Jul 30, 2013 6:13 pm

I have a Mira plumbed in shower which is 18 years old. The shower works fine except for a poor seal where the hose connects to the shower outlet. It leaks water constantly and I cannot get it to seal properly. The rubber washer is in place, I have tried ptfe tape on the threads but that doesn't help. I have tried new hoses, metal and plastic but the leak persists. Am I doing something wrong? It seems such a simple thing but I can't fix it. Any ideas anyone?

Have you checked arund the edges of the shower outlet for a build up of limescale or other debris. Might be worth giving it a quick clean with wire wool or wet & dry paper.

Hi Dave, have just seen your reply. No I hadn't thought of that, will give it a go and see if that improves things. Thanks

Also, try using two rubber sealing washers instead of the single one supplied. Some connections need a thicker rubber washer than the standard.
