Repairing Damp Plaster - What to Fill Patches With? Ask your questions and find answers on many subjects relating to plastering and dry lining

Dear all,

I've recently removed the lining paper in my living room due to damp patches forming caused by the adjacent building.
I've sorted the source of the damp but I have found that there are some large areas of damaged plaster.
The plaster is very old horse hair plaster and I intend to chip off the damaged plaster back to the lath and then re patch the damaged areas.
My question is....what should I fill the damaged areas with?
ShouldI I use a plaster repair formula e.g. Pollyfilla plaster repair or should I just go right in and should I use a multi finish plaster mix.
I'm not overly confident with plaster so any advice would be more than welcome.

use carlite bonding, it will set in about 2 to 3 hours, once set you need to scrape it back 3mm from the finished surface to allow the finishing plaster, use thistle multi finish plaster for the final coat
