Weird lighting

by marktowl » Thu Aug 02, 2007 11:30 pm

Have a new problem with electrics in house.
I have a main light controlled by a 2 way one gang switch and a double gang switch.
The set up is as follows

Two Way Gang - L1 (Red)
L2 (Yellow)
L3 (Blue)
Double Gang - L1 (Yellow with Red band around the yellow wire)
L2 (Red Wire)
L3 (Blue Wire with Red band around the blue wire)
The other part of the double gang controls down lighters and has L1 Black with red band and L2 red wire.
The problem I have is that if the light is switched on with the two way one gang switch I cant turn off with the Double gang. This can happen at the single gang switch. Depends on which switch has turned on light. Are the wires the wrong way round.
Please can someone help :)

Hi Mark,
no prob . ignore the 1 way that works & on the 2 way what matters is whichever colour is in common on one sw, the same must be in common of other end sw.
most likely way should be having the REDS in commons, yels in say L1 & blues in L2
