Bathroom and Basin Drain and Gutter Smell After Refurb? Drainage and wastage systems and plumbing help, advice and answers

We recently just had our bathroom refurbished. After few months i've noticed that on running hot water there is a smell (sort of gutter smell) from the bath tub drain and basin drain. Any idea what is causing this and how can i rectify it. Thanks.

We can only think that something rather nasty is lying in the pipe or possible the traps and the action of this object being distured by the water is causing it to emit the smell. It might be that the traps have been ommitted completely alowing the smell from the drains to come backupthrough the waste pipes.

Whatever it is I'mafraid only an investigation of the pipes is going to solve it.
