SE has advised to use 13" brick pillar under rsj for opening.

House walls are solid 9". How do i build a pillar and tie it to the wall.

Can anyone show me a diagram or something. Could I wrap around the pillar.

You can tie the brickwork in using a starter kit that you drill and fix into the existing brickwork see www.screwfix.com/saberfix wall starter kit

Thamks WB. So you are saying if I drill both sides of a 9" solid wall end with a wall starter kit ,and build a pillar around it will be fine.

Just wondering what to do with the foundation. If I am digging for wall foundation at a 1mtr depth around the wall,is it possible to put concrete at the same depth for the wall whose foundations are shallow (1930house). Will it reinforce the present wall,but a small section only.

If you dig down to the original house foundation depth it should be fine, but the inspector has to approve it before concrete is poured
