I am considering replacing the ball valve unit on a domestic cold water tank. Having looked through the information and advice available, I understand that there are High Pressure and Low Pressure valves. Can I fit either type without a problem?

It is the size of the orifice in the ball valve,small hole high pressure ,big hole low pressure .Try high pressure first then swap to low pressure if there is insufficient flow.

You can read about full bore and reduced bore.
Example:
Valves such as the Swiss Fittings AG valve A-622 TLD is a full bore, and will have low reducing of drag, while the reduced bore A-590 TLD valve, will have a small ball within the valve body, thus the drag will increase.

I hope that is what you mean. Otherwise, the seals within valves are one of the vital elements when it comes to pressure. If you need really high pressure valves i would recommend needle valves.
