Loft conversion truss roof on 4 bed new build detached property

by Coolbabysky1 » Sat Mar 05, 2016 9:56 am

Hi. We are currently in process of having a loft conversion of our 4 bed new build detached house with a truss roof. We have had a few builders and architects around and they are all saying different ideas on the build some say would be cheaper and easier to reinforce with steel beams and some are saying would be cheaper to replace the trusses with artic trusses and effectively take the roof off. Please any advice would be great.

you can get metal web joists. I had 8000 x250mm joists priced up ,for a loft conversion that went from eaves to eaves with no need for any mid span supportn these went in at 600mm centres the quote was, 85£ each they are set at approx. 150mm above existing ceiling beams saves a lot of mess from 'howarth'timber
