underfloor insulation and insulating suspended ground floor

by Hutchy.Hutchinson » Sun Mar 06, 2016 9:34 am

Can anyone advise on insulating a suspended ground floor. Ventilation is excellent but brings with it cold problems. I am concerned that insulation between the joists will reduce ventilation around them and cause problems later on. Pros & Cons please.

you can nail roofing battens to the joists 50mm down from the top of the joists, and cut and install 50mm foiled back insulation boards.
The battens will keep the insulation in position and keep the airflow clear throughout the floor area.
Then fix the floorboards back

Many thanks for your reply "Welsh Brickie". However I was worried about restricting the flow of air around all of the joists and whether insulating them in this way was a good idea or not?
