What's the Best Material to box in Central Heating Pipes With?

by DIYDaisy » Mon Jun 26, 2017 12:03 pm

Hi - we're converting a former airing cupboard into a wardrobe. The tank has been removed but there are still some central heating pipes running down one side. We want to box them in but whatever we box in with will almost (but not quite) touch the pipes which get quite warm. I've been told MDF would be a good option as it won't distort with the heat but I'd prefer not to use that (want to avoid oil based paints). Would plaster board be the best alternative & would it deal with the heat ok? Can I just emulsion directly onto the plasterboard? Thanks in advance.
