Mac Allister Wooden Folding Loft Ladder Problems

by Phila.jones » Mon Jul 10, 2017 8:51 pm

Hi - I'm new to this forum please help! I've fitted a mac allister wooden folding loft ladder (from B&Q) but I'm having difficulty squaring it up. It was certainly a snug fit in the hole I made, but all corners are 90 degrees and still the hatch door is off to one side slightly. It does close, but not as smoothly as I'd like. There are no adjustments in the mechanism so I'm looking for anyone with experience fitting these to give me tips on what I can do next. I've checked it's level (which it wasn't quite to start off with - but I've corrected that now). Can't think what else to try??

Get your chisel or screwdriver and insert it at the back of the loft ladder unit and push forward 5 mm.this small adjustment makes a massive difference and should bring the door back into the frame . I got this from experience of fitting ladders the last 15 years .

Thanks Pal but you’re a little late to the table - fitted this 2.5 years ago!
Ended up taking it out and making the hole a touch bigger
