Changing Light Bulb in Bathroom Light

by Karellen » Thu Oct 12, 2017 9:32 am

Sorry all for asking such a dull question but I'm a complete amateur.

Just moved in to a house and the bathroom lightbulb has been working but just stopped.

I've not had one like this before and I'd like to find out the best way to remove it so it can be changed. I don't want to risk forcefully removing it and causing damage.

All help is appreciated, pics below.

It looks like a halogen capsule lamp, if it is you gently pull it out.

Looks like a G9 type lamp.
They just pull straight out and replacements are available at all large DIY chains and, I believe in some large supermarkets too.
Would really recommend that you get a LED type replacement. They are way more energy efficient and will also run significantly cooler.

Thank you, really appreciate it.

I'll try it again tonight.

I have give it a pull but was maybe too heavy handed with it or possibly it's a bit stuck.

There are two small screws either side of the bulb itself, but I didn't fancy just sticking a screw driver in there and I've never known a lightbulb to come with screws.

Thanks again
